Rectal Polyp

Category Rectal Polyp

Rectal Polyp is a tiny clump of cells that grows on the colon lining. The bulk of colon polyps are benign. But over time, certain polyps of the colon may develop into colon cancer, which, when discovered in its later stages, is always lethal.  There are two major polyp groups, non-neoplastic and neoplastic, respectively. Hyperplastic polyps, inflammatory polyps, and hamartomatous polyps include non-neoplastic polyps. Usually, these polyp forms do not become cancerous. Neoplastic polyps include adenomas and serrated types. In general, the larger a polyp, the greater the risk of cancer, especially with neoplastic polyps.
